Developing a Strategic Mindset

In planning meetings, I am the first (sometimes the only) person to ask, “What are the goals and objectives of this?”

Never operate without purpose! It’s like playing chess – you make moves to win, not to just move pieces around a board.

Part of having a strategic mindset is “beginning with the end in mind.” This habit, as specified in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, is key to making your project a success.

Why are you doing this? Who are you serving? What do you hope to get out of this?

Ask yourself … Know yourself.

These are basic questions that can save you a lot of money and effort so you can focus on what really needs to be done.
